National Stadium Main Bowl Complex — Abuja
Nigeria was awarded by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with the contract to carry out the 8th All African Games, the Olympic Games for the nations of the African Continent, taking place from the 4th to the 18th of October at Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.

Ready for the opening ceremony on the 4th of October 2003

This project is marked by an extremely short period of time for the whole building procedure from design to completion: At the beginning of July first negotiations took place and by November 2000 the final design was on schedule. Realisation started simultaneously.

The Architects set up approx. 900 DIN A0 drawings - of which 68 drawings were dedicated to realising the seating concept. Associating to often seen palettes of local hot and spicy herbs and vegetables, the seat colouring ranged between seven different, yellow to red tones. Each of the approx. 60,500 seats had to be placed separately to establish the latter, sprinkled pattern of an herb palette.  more
