Results received nationwide notice, which traced back to
interdisciplinary teamwork. This productive experience evoked
the idea of implementing inter-
disciplinary teamwork in future projects as well. Thereupon
"GUS Gesellschaft für Umweltplanung" was
formed in Stuttgart. In the course of the 1970ies, the companies'
members worked on a number of school building projects.
GUS's experience in school building design leads back to
activity at the Institute of School Building Facilities
at Stuttgart University (IFS), where they designed the Osterburken
Grammar School. In 1974, Callway wrote the following words
about this project "There are hardly any rewarded competition
designs, which had so much impact on school building design
